decker fire

Picture
The Decker Fire was ignited by a lightning strike on September 8, 2019 just south of Salida, Colorado. It burned slowly until a dry, windy stretch of weather fanned the flames closer to Salida and then toward the Swissvale-Howard area. The fire burned just under 9,000 acres.

ARWC will organize and implement recovery efforts on behalf of Chaffee County including providing coordination and consulting for the County as well as expertise, recommendations, analysis and leadership for recovery efforts. ARWC will serve as the liaison between affected landowners, government agencies and parters, and provide outreach and education regarding post-fire recovery processes. ARWC will complete on the ground assessments to identify needs, complete modeling and project development and identify funding for needed recovery work.
